Fairfield Victoria station's new holding cell
A prison is being built at our railway station, and passengers are furious. At first we thought it was extra space for bikes, or even an improved shelter. But no, Fairfield station, which needs much work, is getting a holding cell for those who come to the notice of the rail police. Yet in a few decades of using the line, I have yet to see an incident that warrants someone being locked up.
