Almost $1.4 million in cash, heroin and other proceeds of crime have been seized and seven people arrested in a major police bust in Melbourne's outer suburbs.
Police say the arrests are a result of a four month investigation targeting heroin trafficking.
Senior Constable Matt Henry from the Croydon Divisional Tasking Unit said the investigation would have an impact on heroin distribution in the outer eastern suburbs.
Nine search warrants were executed last week in Lysterfield South, Scoresby, Belgrave, Ferntree Gully, Bayswater North, Dandenong South and Tatong.
The $1.4 million in cash was found in a Dandenong South storage facility.
Jewellery and glassware were also seized, as well as more than 500 grams of heroin, a small amount of cannabis, a loaded semi-automatic pistol with additional rounds, capsicum spray and financial documents.
A 39-year-old Tatong man will face the Benalla Magistrates Court on 16 December on charges of possessing and trafficking cannabis, possessing heroin and dealing the proceeds of crime.
Three people - a 47-year-old woman from Lysterfield South charged with trafficking heroin and possessing a prohibited weapon, a Ferntree Gully man, 30, charged with trafficking, possessing and using heroin, possession and use of cannabis and possessing the proceeds of crime and a 27-year-old from Bayswater North charged with trafficking, possessing and using heroin and possessing cannabis - have all been remanded in custody.
All will appear in committal hearings at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 9 next year.
A 49-year-old Belgrave man charged with trafficking, possessing and using heroin and possessing and using cannabis has been bailed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 9 next year.
A 53-year-old Lysterfield South man was released and is expected to face a variety of charges on summons and a 22-year-old Scoresby man was arrested and released pending further inquiries.
