Police have charged the father of four-month-old Zach O'Kane with murder after the baby was found dead in a bush grave.
John Patrick O'Kane, 40, led police to the grave site at Wellington National Park near Collie in the state's south-west on Saturday after he was arrested late on Friday.
Baby Zach was last seen in the suburb of Hillman on Monday when O'Kane allegedly told his de facto wife that he was taking the child to visit his family in Langford, in Perth's south.
The alarm was raised two days later when O'Kane failed to return home with the child as scheduled.
O'Kane was arrested in his car at a truck stop several kilometres south of Pinjarra, about 80km south of Perth, early on Friday evening.
He was found suffering a self-inflicted wound which required hospital attention before being released into custody.
O'Kane is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday charged with one count of murder.
