A SERIAL predator has pleaded guilty to 33 charges of sexual assault on children in the Geelong area, some as young as two years old.

During a record of interview, Jamie Armstrong told police he had no control over his actions and, to this day, still fantasised about young children.

``He also told police he had uncontrollable urges and was always in danger of re-offending,'' Crown Prosecutor David O'Doherty told Geelong County Court yesterday.

Armstrong's lawyer, Fatini Panagiatidis, said her client accepted it was not normal for him to find small children sexually attractive.

``He has acknowledged a child would have issues for the rest of their lives, would probably have to undergo counselling and that it was wrong to take someone's innocence away,'' Ms Panagiatidis said.

Armstrong, 28, of Boundary Rd, Mt Duneed, pleaded guilty to 30 counts of sexually assaulting children under 16 and three counts of assault with intent to rape.

The court heard Armstrong's victims included young boys and girls ranging in age from two to 11.

Mr O'Doherty, said that one victim was repeatedly sexually assaulted by Armstrong ``one or two times'' a week for three years. ``This victim said she had been assaulted by Armstrong so many times, she could not remember the number,'' he said.

``On three occasions he attempted to rape her, but the girl bit and scratched him until he let go.''

Mr O'Doherty said that in 1996, Armstrong took a six-year-old boy to a servo and bought him an ice cream before taking the child into a toilet and sexually assaulting him.

While attending one Geelong church, he befriended a three-year-old girl, took her aside and sexually assaulted her, Mr O'Doherty said.

He also sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl at another church.

``When this incident was discovered, Armstrong was provided counselling, but no report on either incident was made to police,'' Mr O'Doherty.

Mr O'Doherty said Armstrong's other victims included a three-year-old boy and two little girls, aged two and three years.

Ms Panagiatidis said her client grew up in the Geelong area, was bullied at school because of his weight and as a teenager demonstrated behavioral problems.

She said that in 1999 Armstrong was charged with indecent assault after he inappropriately touched a young girl at a swimming pool.

``He got two years' probation and a Community-Based Order during which he completed the sex offenders program,'' she said.

Ms Panagiatidis said her client was ``quite religious,'' remorseful and anxious to address his issues relating to children.

She said Armstrong had already spent nine months in custody on remand and asked the court to consider a Com-munity-Based Order but Mr O'Doherty said the nine months already served was insufficient in the circumstances.

Judge Felicity Hampel will sentence Armstrong on February 17.
