TWO mischievous Americans who were arrested for telling lawyer jokes have had the last laugh.
A US grand jury delivered the punchline when it dismissed charges against Harvey Kash, 69, and Carl Lanzisera, 65, arrested last month after being overheard telling lawyer jokes while queuing outside a Long Island courthouse.
"How do you tell when a lawyer is lying?" Mr Kash asked Mr Lanzisera as they waited. "His lips are moving," they both said, guffawing loudly.
The joke was on the legal rabble-rousers when a po-faced lawyer reported them and they were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. But Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon said a grand jury considered the evidence and voted to dismiss it.
Mr Kash and Mr Lanzisera are founders of pressure group Americans for Legal Reform.
Other jokes that got them into trouble include: "Why do they bury lawyers 100m into the ground?"
Answer: "Because, down deep, they're good people."
